I first made and fully fleshed out 6-8 posts of bakery items, added a description, and the bakery’s slogan. It was hard to figure out how to add a custom css, as well as add in all the details for each bakery item. I learned a lot of new skills by making the commerce site – how to set up WooPayments in WooCommerce, formatting my website so that everything was centered, and adding a logo that fit well with the theme and fit in the logo box so it didn’t look wonky. I loved learning how to categorize my items, and making it easier for people to navigate my site. I am specifically proud of the design of my website – I made it pink and red themed as my slogan was “made with love,” and I did this using my custom css skills I had learned from previous units. My qualitative aspects were my product stories, which were fun to make. My website visually looks great and girly, and I incorporated fun features to the site.

CONTENT

For my content site, I made a digital newspaper, which I called The Isabella Times, using the Paper theme. This allowed me to format my news and add many different widgets and blocks to my site! I was able to add widgets for related posts and categorical navigation throughout the site. Too, I learned many new skills, like making posts, figuring out all the different block options, transferring my wordpress site to a new domain, and making categories for each part of my news. For my qualitative elements, I made a “Broadcast Media” page as my home page with categories (as suggested on the project instructions) that did not look visually appealing at all with the theme I chose. I embedded YouTube videos and music from Spotify for this. It was a challenge to figure out feature images – some wouldn’t work, and some just looked weird on the site. It was fun to play around with different media blocks! I also used custom CSS to change the headers of the site’s color, as well as change the background.

Reflections for WordPress Project 3: E-Commerce Site and Content Site COMMERCE For my commerce site, I decided to make a bakery store.
